At 11:00 a.m. on September 2, 2012, a new Anglican Church held its first service in the Rosemary Beach Town Hall. In this sermon, Fr. John Wallace challenged those attending the first service of Apostles By-the-Sea to embrace their call to be Apostles - a word that means 'sent ones'. Saint Paul says that "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved..." but how will they know unless people are sent to tell them? All Christians are called to be 'sent ones' sent into the world to take God's presence with us where ever we go and share the love of Christ with everyone we meet. Christians are called to be Apostles. We gather each week to offer God our worship, to be nourished by God's Word and Sacraments, and then to be sent into the world as Apostles to call others into fellowship with Christ.
